An European project with an inclusive spirit

The aim of the project is to measure the inclusion “temperature” of the sports events for the people with disabilities.

“equALL” harnesses the global passion for football to promote collaboration and positive values. Leveraging football’s immense popularity, it aims to spread a sustainable message worldwide. UEFA’s equal game campaign reached 877 million people online, with 300 million followers on UEFA’s social media channels. UEFA EURO 2020 had a global audience of 5.2 billion, and similar figures are anticipated for UEFA EURO 2024 and the Paris 2024 Olympic & Paralympic Games. The project has a duration of 12 months and is co-funded by the European Commission.

The 4 steps in defining the roadmap of “equALL”

  • Analysis of context: Tackle global sustainability challenges, focusing on relevant issues for football. Taking stock of the current situation and existing initiatives.
  • Definition of topics, targets and KPIs: Outlining the 11 areas of our research backed by SMART targets and indicators for performance measurement.
  • Execution via action plan: Defining appropriate activities, responsibility – alongside an assessment of risks in view of managing and mitigating them.
  • Measurement and reporting: Creating a database to provide insight into performance and progress, in addition to laying the ground for the two Good Practices’ publications.

The partnership

Youthorama was founded in 2003 as a sports club based in Thessaloniki, Greece. In addition to fostering a community environment for adolescents and young adults, it implements unified sports inclusive activities for children between 4 and 18 years old.

The activities of Youthorama have been hosted and supported since then by the Municipality of Pilea-Hortiatis, Greece. In the youth field, we have organized and participated in European programs supported by both the European Commission Erasmus + and the Council of Europe. In recent years, especially through our #ABallforAll campaign, we have focused on integrating young people with fewer opportunities through sport.

Athletes Inspire Children is an NGO from Germany dedicated to creating socio-educational programs integrated with sport and is directly related to the youngest. AIC is focus on three main themes: health, education and social inclusion. Having a close insight into the health aspect allows to have a very solid criteria on the appropriate use of physical activity and at the same time gives us the ability to evaluate other factors that are also related to sport such as recovery, rest, healthy habits or prevention.
